Asha Archana found a post in a WhatsApp group about a puppy who had been hit by a motorbike. He was lying by the side of the road, unable to move. The video she saw was simply heartbreaking and she couldn't leave him there in that state, he was so tiny! She rushed to the spot and took him to the vet.
He had a head injury and was paralyzed, and his eyes were unfocused. He had lost his sight, too. The Doctor put him on IV immediately and they prayed until the next morning. He was still breathing, so that gave them hope. He continued to stay at the hospital for three more days after which Asha brought him home to foster him until he got better.
"It was definitely chaotic but SO rewarding. He showed immediate signs of improvement after I brought him home and he had attention and love. I started him on physiotherapy with some simple stretching exercises, making him walk on a yoga mat with the promise of food, and so on. Within a week he was walking on his own and the vet was shocked at his progress when we went for our weekly review," shared Asha adding that it has been the most rewarding experience realizing that you can make such a huge difference in their lives.
"Cooper was adopted by a very dear friend of mine. When I see him running towards me the moment I call his name, that feeling is quite indescribable. My stress just disappears! My husband and I have always loved animals and my mother-in-law dotes on them too, but it was not the case with my side of the family. My mother and grandmother were quite scared of dogs so when they had to stay with us for an entire summer during Covid they were terrified of our dogs more than Covid! Once they started living with us they saw that reality is so different from their fears. They fell in love with our dogs, and my Ammamma literally cried when she had to go back to our hometown. Today, she asks about the dogs first before she asks how I'm doing every time she calls," concluded Asha.
