Coping with a break-up? Your pet can be your Therapist

Have you ever tried assembling a puzzle with missing pieces? Well, guess what? Break-up feels exactly the same. Dealing with a break-up can shatter one from within. Heartbreaks make one feel incomplete and one’s constant chatter suddenly falls silent.

Calm down! That is when the least anticipated buddies show up, your unsung superheroes are probably the best therapists you could come across. These bundles of joy possess the potential to bring your gorgeous smile back and “to make you love yourself more than anyone in the universe”.

Let us delve straight into Mayerline’s impressive feat of confronting a toxic break-up with her four -legged cheerleaders. Mayerline lives with Abby,a Cocker Spaniel and Maxi ,a Yorkshire Terrier.

Mayerline shares that coping with a break-up takes a toll on one’s mental health as one realizes the sudden void left by a special person and feels nostalgic about shared memories that now seem bittersweet.

Abby embraced Mayerline’s world 12 years ago when she was facing a painful break-up with Raùl. She feels, “Abby was the best thing that happened to me and until this day she’s the light and love of my life”.

Mayerline shared a lot of sweet moments with Abby who was living with Raùl for two months and Mayerline continuously requested her dad to take Abby home with her and he agreed. Mayerline feels that moment was special and one she will cherish forever.

Falling in love came along with a rollercoaster of emotions. Mayerline fell head over heels for Raùl and her life seemed perfect but things took an upsetting turn and ended on a bitter note leaving Mayerline in a sea of hopelessness and her charming pals emerged as “angels” in her imperfect life.

“Abby and Maxi were always there for me,” she recollects, her voice filled with gratitude. “They never judged me and their presence was a constant reminder that I was still loved.”

Mayerline says, my pets taught me the importance of self-love. “Abby became my confidant, my therapist wrapped in fur. I could heal especially with Abby’s company.” She slept beside me every night and jumped with excitement when I came home. Her journey towards healing began with the immense support of her pets and her hurtful memories finally began to fade, replacing her toxic memories into joyful moments.

“My pets gifted me the strength to mend my broken heart. They did not only help me overcome an abusive relationship but brought an everlasting source of love and happiness in my life,” she concluded.
