Dogs are Intuitive, believes Anithaa

Anithaa got Rex home when her then boyfriend, now husband Rishikesh and she were dating. They both loved dogs but never got a chance to grow up with them considering the reservations their parents had.

“We knew we would be together and get married soon, hence decided to bring home Rex our Rottweiler,” shared Anithaa.

She added, “I was passionate about adoption and always believed in the cause. That is how we ended up going to CUPA Second Chance Adoption Center, met with our boy Rex, spent time with him and decided he is ours and got a similar response from him. He was then brought to our home to see how he would respond; things went well and he was legally ours!”

Anithaa said that her pet has changed them at every level. “I am more disciplined, grounded as people. Also, I have learnt to accept support from them when I am low, learning to balance my empathetic side. My fitness level has improved considering that their walks are a must! I feel that I can be a better parent too once my human kids are born too,” she said.

Further, she added, “My husband and I had a very challenging time ever since we got married and even before that, considering we come from different backgrounds, childhood experiences and were living together that too with my family. Post marriage, we got home Luna, our now 9-year-old beagle girl.”

Dogs are so intuitive and empathetic; they know how to cheer us up as needed and make everything seem conquerable. In addition they help in ensuring we stay calm, cheerful due to their antics and sometimes bring us out of our minds with their drama!

“Rex and Luna literally helped us stick together and rescued us, though technically he is ‘adopted and rescued’.

Rex being a 50 kg Rottweiler boy has completely won over her parents (specially her Mom) who had not liked dogs even. “We got him home when he was 8 months old, so she expected a tiny looking puppy, but was flabbergasted when she saw a 40 kg 5xl puppy ! In no time he was her and my Dad’s favorite and like a grandchild to them and great grandchild to my Grandfather who was almost 80 years at the time!”
