Feeding dogs and rescuing animals is Ambika's purpose of life

Reminiscing her childhood days, Ambika Sadanand remembers having various pets at home as all of them were animal lovers. Her journey as an animal feeder started in the year 2009.

On being asked about her journey, Ambika shared that her pet dog had suddenly died of heart attack in 2009. All her food was left, and Ambika gave a thought on what can be done? So one day, she started feeding the street dogs in the nearby areas. Soon, she noticed that these dogs started to follow her.

There has been no looking back since then. From then onwards, she started feeding the dogs in and around her place and the best part is she still continues to feed the dogs till date. Even during the covid days, she somehow managed to feed them. Hence, collaboration and community involvement can make a significant impact on ensuring dogs in your area receive the nourishment they need.

Not only does she feed dogs but also rescues animals. Speaking to PawsAyur, Ambika who is a senior citizen said, "I had rescued 2 cats in my building from being crushed under the lift as one of their sibling met the fate a few years ago."

Ambika who lost her husband last year, also mentioned that it was because of the pets that she was able to come out of emotional trauma after the sudden demise of her husband. Pets can offer comfort and emotional support, creating a sense of security. Their presence can reduce feelings of loneliness and anxiety, providing a non-judgmental source of companionship.

"Today even on a single day, if I am unable to feed them, I feel really helpless. I make it a point to take help of other animal feeders so that these poor creatures are not left hungry," added the animal lover.

Animals bring joy and companionship. Whether you have pets or support animal welfare, all your love for animals is commendable.
