The covid pandemic (March 2020 lockdown 1.0) changed many lives, Gitika was one amongst them.
Due to certain circumstances, she was left all alone in Pune and just a few days before lockdown, she observed a pregnant cat. Gitika started feeding the cat and she started visiting her to eat and sleep when she wanted. On 7th April, she delivered 4 healthy kittens.
"My hands, my home and my heart were full," stated Gitika adding that when she had friends complaining they are bored, she had no time, 24 hours felt short. With 5 cats, cooking, cleaning and of course working 8-10 hours, she didn't even realize when lockdown got over.
On July 2020, she officially adopted this munchkin and named her Puurry ( her puurrs are earth shattering). She helped Gitika cope up with loneliness, stress and anxiety. She kept her sane and still does. "She rules my Heart, my home and my life," she expressed.
Gitika said that she recently adopted another cat, Puurrito whom she named Magic. He is about 3 years old and rescued from an abusive family.
He follows Gitika everywhere and she is still getting to know Puurry.
"Magic is a breeder discard. He was kept in a very small cage and fed only scraps.
When he came to me in July 2021 he had lot of health issues. After working on the issues, he is now healthy and confident. He used to think that spoon is edible as we use spoon to eat everything. He would take a spoon and try to bite in to it. Slowly he knew that he can eat as much he wanted and he won't ever be hungry" she shared.
Gitika shared that she cannot imagine life without pets around. She feels that a a human, we tend to miss some purpose and unconditional love without pets.
Adult animals often get overlooked and everyone prefers baby animals (for instance, kittens and puppies).
"If you or anyone you know wants to adopt then do give adults a chance too. They turn to be goofiest, silliest and funniest little beings. Also you give them a chance to be a kid again," concluded Gitika while speaking to PawsAyur.
