Meet Mimi who has invites from family in India and abroad

A dog named Mimi was brought into Kadambari's home by her father in 2020. At that time, they had lost both their rescue dogs. Scooby was a streetie rescued by her nephew. Wienie was rescued by Kadambari, from the University hospital when she was getting her PhD there. "We were very sad for a few days and this was during the pandemic. Isolation was taking its toll on the family. That is when my Dad showed up with a puppy one afternoon. He brought in a ray of sunshine and we immediately fell in love with her," she said.

Mimi has been the most spoiled dog in the history of their family. She was allowed to jump and roll on the furniture, bed, and in the kitchen. "No dog was allowed to do this. Even my aunt, who is not an avid dog-lover, has been spoiling Mimi with mango icecream and biscuits. She was also the first female dog in the family," added Kadambari.

She can't think of a life before Mimi. She said that she has had the privilege of owning other dogs in her life, but Mimi is very different. She has brought us all closer as a family and now, they plan outings according to Mimi. Many pets, such as dogs, require regular exercise, which encourages family members to be more active together. Going for walks, playing games, or engaging in outdoor activities with a pet not only promotes physical health but also provides opportunities for quality family time.

On being asked how it caters to her emotional needs, she believes that dogs find the people that need them the most and then become their family. "I think Mimi was like that. She entered our lives when things were a little difficult for me with my parents. But now all our joy centers around her. We all smile a bit more because of her," she shared, adding that whenever they travel, there is a separate budget for things they bring back home for Mimi. And it's not just them, even extended family bring her gifts when they travel.

Mimi has turned all their visitors into dog-lovers. She has invites from friends and relatives all over India and abroad to visit and stay with them.
