My pets helped me survive during Covid

Pluto came to their home on 4th April 2018, when Mrinalini’s friend Jayshree received a call saying that there is a puppy who has been hit by a car. She and her friend were going to give an injection to one of their stray dogs who lived near their apartment. They took Pluto from the accident site and went to the doc with 2 puppies, after x-ray & medical checkup, doc said that her hip bone is dislocated, she needs foster care or else it will be difficult for her to recover.

Pluto being 1 month old, slept on my arms while she was discussing with the doc which made her heart melt. “Then I told the doc that I will take care of her until she recovers & maybe after that I will get her adopted to a nice family. She recovered slowly in 1-2 months & she was able to walk nicely. I tried giving her to one of my known family & I asked them to keep her for 1 week.”

Pluto stayed there for 2-3 days as there was a small girl and while playing, she got a light scratch as Pluto's nails were baby nails and were sharp. However, she feels that it was a blessing in disguise as the girl’s father decided to give the puppy back. After that, she brought back her Pluto & she became a part of their family.

Kelly came to their house in Dec 2018. She was an abandoned pup, not sure how she came to their colony & her watchman kept Kelly at the parking area. “I was watching her for 2 days, and gave her food & milk. She used to eat so nicely & also looked like a small black bear. I took her home with me, where me & my brother decided to keep her as she will give company to Pluto,” she said.

Lifestyle has changed a little as she has got the responsibility now to take care of 2 kids type pets. Even if she is not cooking for herself, she cooks for them. The pets have helped her to live & be stable during Covid as she was staying without her parents. “I would have definitely gone into depression after seeing the scary situation everywhere. But they have kept me strong, healthy, and responsible to take care of myself so that I can take care of them & calm them during the difficult situations,” she shared.
