Pets are therapeutic and ‘Goldie’ is evidence of the same


Jiya was elated when her mother gifted her ‘GOLDIE’ on her 14th birthday and from that moment their life became inextricably intertwined and Goldie became an irreplaceable part of her family from 2013.But who is ‘Goldie’?


Goldie is a golden retriever and known for it’s loyalty, intelligence and trustworthiness. Goldie, is an extremely active Puppy who is fond of travelling. Jiya and Goldie love spending time together be it from morning walks, outdoor activities to idle afternoons, spent lying lazily together on the couch. “My days have always been filled with simple moments full of excitement, peace and joy when Goldie is around,” expressed Jiya who believes Goldie is more than a pet, someone who would not judge her during tough times and is always beside her during happier moments.


Goldie can sense instinctively when Jiya feels miserable, and would instantly shower her with empathy, love and care. He would unveil his emotions, by climbing over to Jiya’s lap and licking her face, in order to distract her from her problems, and would wag his tail to give her hope and evade feelings of loneliness and isolation. Jiya can’t imagine surviving without Goldie and feels safe and secure in the midst of Goldie. Her furry friend has undeniably become an important part of her life, her best friend and she loves to spend quality time with Goldie.


Life kept throwing challenges at Jiya and Goldie, but they decided to deal with it together. They served as each other’s pillars of strength and with time their bond grew deeper and deeper.

Spending quality time with Goldie worked wonders for Jiya’s health, it lowered her blood pressure leaving her calm and relaxed. Goldie was instrumental in alleviating Jiya’s feelings of anxiety and depression and served as a source of reassurance. This made Jiya and Goldie trust each other more and Jiya learned the true meaning of kindness and empathy from her beloved pet Goldie.

One day, Jiya was exceptionally unwell and relied on her loyal companion Goldie. He helped Jiya when she felt helpless, by not leaving her sight for even a moment. His presence motivated Jiya and instantly uplifted her mood. A gentle touch and unconditional love is all an individual requires to deal with the burden of illness. Goldie’s mere presence was therapeutic in Jiya’s challenging journey.

Jiya was eventually on the path of recovery. She felt extremely grateful to have Goldie in her life. Jiya realized that this is not an ordinary bond, but a special one. Jiya was moved by Goldie’s selfless attitude and decided to encourage her friends, to adopt more pets. Jiya feels that having a pet helps us make more friends and contributes immensely in increasing one’s self esteem.

She shared, how doing so, can brighten their stressful day and add meaning to their life immensely. Also saving a life and providing a home emulates kindness and is a deep, fulfilling and rewarding experience.

This unique bond, serves as a reminder that a pet and owner’s bond is very special. It showcases their genuine care, love, mutual understanding, and kindness towards each other and this pure bond touches the very core of our souls.
