Pets make every single day worth living

Having pets since childhood is a blessing. Gayatri Bala says she has been lucky to have cats, birds, squirrels and now dogs. Her mother often says that the day she was born, a cat had her litter and one of the kittens was always by her side. She still has cats in her mom's house.

"I always had a certain connection to animals in general but cats always had my attention. I've had so many fights with my dad because of my crazy habit of bringing whatever animal I could find out the road. My mom loved animals equally so I had her support but eventually my dad also gave in to my craziness. Once I found four kittens on the road and sat in front of my house till my dad agreed for them to be with me," reminisced Gayatri.

Pets to her are like a lifeline. She can have deep meaningful and long conversations with animals and find solutions to all her problems. She prefers animal's company than human company because then she can be completely free and they would understand.

The ability to always be positive and love anyone no matter what, is what Gayatri learnt from her parents and pets. Her dogs have made her more energetic and enthusiastic about life. Her cats taught her to be self reliant. She gets her daily dose of happiness and togetherness from her pets everyday.

"If today I am smiling it is because of my cats and dogs. They showed me the true meaning of strength and trust," she said.

If ever she comes home late, she can be sure that there would be three kind souls waiting for her at the door. Even though she comes home sad on few days, it takes less than a second for her dog to brighten her up. It makes her so happy to be able to gain an animal's trust and to be able to be capable of giving love to them. She opines that she would rather get old and have hundreds of animals around her rather than get stuck in an unsatisfactory life.

"I don't know about difference because I've grown up with pets in my entire life, I've never had a single day where I did not have a pet with me. And I wouldn't want to live without them," she concluded.
