‘Sweetie’ Paws – Lost and found, Sweetie is irreplaceable in Manasa’s life

In a world that often moves at a frenetic pace, it is the soft touch of a paw, the gentle purring, or the wag of a tail that can remind us of what truly matters. Pets have an extraordinary ability to touch our hearts, bring joy to our lives, and profoundly change us in ways we never imagined.

“Sweetie, my pet, ended up with us by chance. She was not with us. She visited us. I would want to put it that way. She was raised by my brother-in-law's family after her birth. She spent two years there with them. After that, she upset their elders, so I told them I would only keep her for a week. Since then, she has remained with us,” expressed Manasa.

Pets are tranquillizers, particularly dogs. Before Sweetie, Manasa had a dog. However, she had to put her down due to sad events and her illness. After that, Manasa made the decision to not bring any pets home, but God had other plans for them and Sweetie entered their life. Manasa spends less time outside because no matter where she is, she gets home by dark because being with Sweetie is kind of therapeutic. It is not necessary to offer assurances. It is just pure love and emotion, indeed.

“Despite my silence, Sweetie easily senses my emotions and is aware of my moods. She hates it when I cry and this is one of the best and cutest things about her. I am still curious on how they can comprehend all human emotions and respond appropriately. A healer, she is,” shared Manasa.

Manasa’s family is not a pet person. But they were forced to accept it since Manasa and her spouse insisted on it. Sweetie once got out of the cage. Sweetie was at the pet zone when Manasa and her husband had to travel for just two days for some urgent job. After one night, they got a call informing that Sweetie had left. After they returned, they spent a month looking for her but in vain. Manasa was inconsolable.

Exactly six months after Manasa had given up hope, a person on social media had posted a picture of a Pomeranian on Beach Road with the request if anyone is interested in adopting it. I recognised the photo right away and could not wait to get Sweetie back. So, at 4 am, they headed to the Beach Road and Manasa says that she cannot express in words the happiness on seeing Sweetie.

“Sweetie acknowledged me, but then it grew too frail and lost most of her hair. She needed to be examined and immunised, so I took a cab to the veterinarian. She was unable to trust us even after we took her home. Since the day we found her back, every day has been beautiful with her presence,” concluded Manasa.
